Introduction

Thumbtack has been a blessing by connecting us to people who need home repairs and small projects done around the house. We can do many home repairs but cannot do any plumbing or electric work inside the walls with our General Contractors license. Having a chance to work for ourselves and be of service to this community is what led us to start On The Level Home Service. The nature of a handyman is we don't always know what we are walking into so some appointments will last longer than expected while others are quick and simple. We will contact you on the day of your apt with an ETA before we arrive and encourage you to message us on the Thumbtack platform.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Our hourly rate is $75 and we may charge you for 1/2 an hour minimum if we arrive at the location before the job is cancelled. Discounts could apply please ask about them when you contact us.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We seek first to understand the project or projects ask questions have conversation and sometimes pictures help establish what we're going to do. If we agree on the scope of work and a time to get it done we'll put it on the schedule. When we do come out, we'll walk through it together to make sure we both understand the same thing. If anything changes we'll show it to you and give options before proceeding forward. When the work is finished we will inspect it with you and let you know it's okay to call us back if you need to.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
We have many years experience in plumbing, hvac, home improvement projects, painting, carpentry and remodeling. Cary Ankerich was a non union plumber in the South for many years and Joel Ankerich was an insurance agent specializing in contractors and construction.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I was an insurance broker for 20 years; bought and sold homes how along the way. Before the pandemic hit I decided to get off my seat and start my own business with my brother. For the past couple of years we have had the chance to work together towards our dreams and be of service to others in the process.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We mostly work for homeowners but there are both businesses and lessors that we work with on installation and repair projects.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We recently rebuilt a hallway closet in a very old home. What was there looked more like a makeshift utility closet until we got started. A couple of Bi-fold doors, some sliding doors on the top and custom made trim made it look like it had always been there.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Find someone you communicate well with as well as all the other boxes you are checking.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Do you have an adequate description of the work needed; pictures save a lot of misunderstandings and are very useful for us to ask about any details you may not known to include.
